Who is Patrick Barry?

A 1983 Magna Cum Laude graduate of California Western School of Law, Pat is one of a select few plaintiffs lawyers in San Diego who is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).  Though many lawyers promote themselves as “trial lawyers”, few have substantial trial experience.  ABOTA is the only trial lawyer organization where applicants go through a peer review process, must have a particular level of trial experience and are elected by member/peers. 

Pat was born and raised in Northern California into a ranching family.  His father came from the country while his mother came from the city.  This exposure to both rural and urban culture allowed Pat to have a rounded perspective on various walks of life.  Pat strongly believes in the American Civil Justice system, including the right to a Jury Trial.  Pat’s background allows him relate to people of all backgrounds.  Pat respects the right of all citizens to serve as jurors, regardless of socio-economic background, gender or education.

Pat is a Padre and Charger fan.   Pat competed in multiple sports in high school, where he was voted Athlete of the Year his senior year.  Pat went on to play basketball and baseball at the collegiate level.  Pat believes that athletic competition provides a foundation that translates well into field of trial lawyering.  Integrity, perseverance and effort are common qualities.   

Professionally, Pat has been an invited speaker and lecturer by various organizations including the California State Bar, Consumer Attorneys of California, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, San Diego County Bar Association, etc.  Pat is a recipient of an Outstanding Trial Award by the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego.  He carries an “AV” rating (highest possible) by the nationwide lawyer review publication Martindale Hubbell.
